The slot is a template fragment within a child component’s render function, allowing it to access state passed in as props. The v-slot shorthand is template v-slot:header>, and can be used to encapsulate both reusable logic and visual output. This approach is similar to how scoped slots are used in manual render functions.

A slot machine is a casino game that takes cash or paper tickets with barcodes as input, and gives out credits according to the paytable. Symbols on the machine vary with each game, but classic symbols include fruits, bells, and stylized lucky sevens. Some machines allow the player to choose the number of paylines, while others predetermine the amount that each spin wins.

Unlike wide receivers, who line up out-front and run long routes on the route tree, slot receivers are shorter, more agile players that can make quick cuts in-between routes to stretch the defense vertically. They also are more effective at running shorter routes, such as slants. The slot receiver is becoming a necessity in today’s NFL, as offenses are increasingly using three-receiver sets with smaller wideouts.

The slot is the area between and slightly behind the wide receivers, as well as the offensive linemen. It is named for the position’s primary responsibilities, which include catching passes from the quarterback and blocking for running backs. The slot is also responsible for running short routes on the route tree, such as slants and quick outs.
